2018 is already long gone and I couldn’t be more grateful for the amazing experiences, memories and people this year brought into my life. It’s fun to look back and put in balance the things I wished for vs the things I checked off my list, but I definitely slowed down with making New Year resolutions over the last years.
For example, at the beginning of 2017, among other things, I made a solid list of countries I MUST see, including my dream country Sweden, and I was very determined to do everything in my power to tick off all the boxes. The outcome was a bit disappointing. Although I traveled a lot, I didn’t stick exactly to my list. I didn’t go to Sweden either. Therefore, I decided to put on my big girl pants and be ok with the fact that I like being spontaneous more than planning my every move. So in 2018 I decided to be a little more relaxed. Of course I still had a wish list, but I was willing to compromise. And guess what? The year turned out to be amazing. And most important, I didn’t feel disappointment. Not a little bit.
What happened in 2018?
Last year was all about traveling with friends and making memories. I had only one solo trip, and even that was semi-solo, meaning that I spent a few days alone and a few days with a friend. In 2018 I’ve been to Italy (Sicily), Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Norway, Sweden (YAY!), Austria and Czech Republic. This time I didn’t make as many trips in my home country like in the past, but I’ve had a few good ones, most notable being Cluj-Napoca and Brașov, plus Constanța and a lot of trips to Prahova Valley. Of course, I couldn’t let a year to pass without trying something new. This time I chose to do 2 things for the first time: rafting and zip lining in Montenegro. Totally worth it!
Highlights of 2018
Here are my personal travel-related wins and accomplishments:
1. I visited 8 countries, of which I traveled to 6 for the first time.
2. I tried rafting for the first time in Montenegro, on Tara River. I fought the rapids and enjoyed the landscape at the same time. Would repeat the experience without question.
3. I went zip lining for the very first time and my first experience was on the longest zip line in Europe, which is also in Montenegro, over Tara Canyon.

4. Again, I went to a lot of festivals to see artists like: Jessie J, Nothing but Thieves (again), JP Cooper, Dubioza Kolektiv, Morcheeba, Patrice and many others.

My wishes for 2019
As I said, I’m done making plans for the future, but because I’m getting closer and closer to checking all European countries on my travel list, I think I’m ready to step up my game and wave goodbye to the Old Continent. I have a shortlist of countries that could help me with this quest: Egypt, Morocco, and United Arab Emirates. I don’t know which one will be, but I like the uncertainty.
If you want to be the first to know what I chose and be part of my journey, make sure you follow me on social media: Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
I hope you have a wonderful year ahead of you! Cheers to living life to the fullest and enjoying every moment like it’s the last ❤️
